Fremantle Boat Harbour Study Area
This website provides information regarding the potential redevelopment of Lot 2023 Mews Road, (32 Mews Road) Fishing Boat Harbour Fremantle by AMB Capital Partners (AMB Capital).

At this stage, the study area being considered includes:

  • AMB’s existing long term lease holdings at 38 Mews Road (which is currently a boat lifting and boat storage facility);
  • In addition to the existing lease, the study area is likely to consider other uses at Sardine Wharf as per ongoing discussions with the Department of Transport. This is an adjoining area used for public car parking, commonly known as Sardine Wharf which is operated under licence by the City of Fremantle from the Department of Transport.

The family associated with AMB Capital Partners have been investing in Western Australian communities for four generations and believes there is incredible potential to contribute to the revitalisation of the Fishing Boat Harbour precinct by redeveloping the site and improving public access to the waterfront. This iconic area holds a special place in the hearts of Western Australians. AMB Capital would like to be able to reflect this pride and understand the aspirations of the community to ensure any reuse of the current boat lifting site contributes to the overall vibrancy of Fishing Boat Harbour.

The Harbour Connect project team want to add to the social and economic fabric of Fremantle and give the community greater access to more of Fishing Boat Harbour’s waterfront through the redevelopment of the site. The planning for the proposed development would seek to add to the vitality of the precinct and surrounds.

AMB Capital envisage a development that supports a range of new land uses, which also embraces, showcases and supports the working roots of the Harbour.

The project team have broad aspirations for the site to:

  • Regenerate the currently inaccessible site to create a vibrant and engaging mixed-use precinct that everyone in the community can access
  • Generate future uses that support the existing maritime activity in Fishing Boat Harbour
  • Contribute towards improving connections between the City of Fremantle, the boat harbour and the Port.
  • Celebrate the culture and history of Fremantle
  • Support Fremantle’s creative commerce through a range of retail and commercial uses
  • Create public spaces for the local community that provide a connection to the waterfront
  • Become an iconic link between the ‘green lung’ of Fremantle (the Esplanade Park) to the east and the ‘blue lung’ (the water) to the west.
  • Enhance the visitor and tourist offering of Fishing Boat Harbour, including places for visitors to stay
  • Alternative attractions than food outlets.
  • Enable a diversity of residential accommodation
  • Deliver an environmentally sustainable built form outcome
